Description of General, Special and Prohibited Items

General goods, special goods, and embargoed types are difficult to classify in a few words, and sometimes a commodity will involve two or three identification standards. Here is a brief explanation of some common types of commodities.

General Merchandise General goods are ordinary goods that do not contain sensitive goods or contraband goods

Generally divided into: non-battery magnetic powder liquid, etc., clothes, shoes, bags, strollers, trolleys, LED lamps, fitness equipment, ordinary furniture, etc.

Special Goods The definition of sensitive goods is more complicated. Sensitive goods are a general reference to some prohibited goods that may be involved or have been involved in some strict supervision departments, such as imitation brands, cameras (not insured), utility knives, beauty instruments, CDs, oils, motors (large or small volumes depends on the product type, general goods are available), powder (such as iron powder, etc.), liquid cosmetics, solid cosmetics, other liquids (most of them are available, if you are not sure, please ask first), batteries, magnets, etc.
Contraband Products Prohibited items are items that Taiwan Customs stipulate that cannot be imported and shipped from China.
These include: electronic cigarettes (oil), powder (especially white powder), medical supplies (the Department of Health has strict import regulations and those breaking the rules will be subject to criminal penalties or fines), alcohol, politically related products, knives, guns, erotica, etc.

Goods must go through customs inspection when they exit customs from China and arrive in Taiwan. In order to clear customs smoothly, please truthfully state the goods name. If the declared name does not match the actual goods, it will be detained or asked to be replaced by a special cargo aircraft. Delays in delivery time may also cause your goods to be unpacked and damaged.

When goods arrive in Taiwan, they must go through customs inspection. If the value of the goods exceeds the tax-free range of Taiwan, customs duties may be imposed. The tax must be paid by the recipient. The customs duties are related to the weight, type, value, volume, volume and other factors of the goods. For specific regulations, please consult your local customs.

Import duties and charges are levied as follows:
Imported goods with a dutiable value of less than NT$2,000 are exempt from customs duties, excise tax and business tax, excluding tobacco, alcohol and agricultural products subject to tariff quotas. As of July 1st, 2016, if the same taxpayer has applied the tax exemption provisions of Article 49, Paragraph 2 of the Customs Law more than six times within half a year, the previous tax exemption provisions will not apply from the seventh time onwards. The term “half-year period” refers to the period from January 1st to June 30th and July 1st to December 31st of each year, and the count starts again from January 1st and July 1st of each year).

For other relevant regulations, please refer to: The Ministry of Finance Tax Portal:

https://www.etax.nat.gov.tw/etwmain/

Please take into account the possible tariff cost before delivery, and pay the tariff in time if the tariff is incurred. If the goods are returned or destroyed due to customs clearance, all costs and legal responsibilities must be borne by yourself.

Understanding Real-Name Authentication

Real-Name Authentication Requirements of Recipients in Taiwan:

Taiwan Customs Administration recommends that the public download the EZ WAY APP that was jointly launched by the Customs Administration Xingmao Network Co., Ltd., in order to perform digital authentication through their mobile phone number, and apply for registration. After that, the Customs Administration will cross-check the dual-certificate information when applying for the door number with the (digital database) of the five major telecom networks in Taiwan and create a file, which means that the public’s ID number, name and other information will be automatically imported to the customs broker. You can also check whether your identity has been stolen from imported goods on the application at any time.

At present, packages can be imported as long as they pass the EZ WAY app certification, but in the future, the Customs Administration will expand to a one-by-one confirmation mechanism. In the future, the public must confirm each order on the APP before importing packages. The Customs Administration also emphasized that the EZ WAY APP was actively developed by the customs and trade network company.

Real-Name Certificate Method

Please use the EZ WAY APP on your mobile phone or use the WEB natural person certificate authentication of the customs clearance service platform at the download address: https://eccs.tradevan.com.tw.
